BlueScope Zacs, a product line for civil and residential projects of NS BlueScope Vietnam, donated 50 steel houses to the poor in 10 localities across the country from December 2018 to April 2019.

The donation is part of the company’s Manh ghep yeu thuong (Pieces of Love), its third year’s corporate social responsibility programme in Viet Nam.

Each house is built on an area of 32 square metres, made with BlueScope Zacs premium alloy-coated steel that is easy to assemble and is resistant against strong winds.

“The programme is BlueScope Zacs and authorised dealers’ efforts in helping local residents to overcome difficulties,” said Vo Minh Nhut, Country President, NS BlueScope Vietnam.

“We are very poor so we never dreamed of a house to shelter us during the rain or cold seasons. From now on, our family will be safer when the rainy and stormy season comes,” said Danh Uot, a farmer in Vinh Loi Ward in Kien Giang Province who received a new house from the programme.

As a member of the joint venture between Australian BlueScope Steel Limited and Japanese Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation, NS BlueScope Vietnam is now operating three factories in Phu My, Bien Hoa and Ha Noi, providing the market with 156,000 tonnes of high-quality coated steel yearly for big construction projects, hi-tech agricultural solutions, small and medium factories and civil buildings. — VNS
