Vietnamese conglomerate BIM Group has been ranked forty-fourth in Viet Nam Report’s Profit 500 which honours the most profitable companies in the country.

Tourism development and real estate investment at BIM Group were honoured in the top ten besides other big developers such as VinGroup, Nova, Dat Xanh, Nam Long, Kinh Bac and Khang Dien.

BIM Group registered a significant growth in tourism development and real estate investment with two flagship projects at the Halong Marina Urban Area in the northern province of Quang Ninh and Phu Quoc Marina Tourism Complex on Phu Quoc Island in the southern province of Kien Giang, which have attracted the presence of global brands like InterContinental, Regent, Sailing Club, Citadines, Fraser Suites and soon Park Hyatt.

BIM Group has also developed the first five-star hotel in Laos, the Crowne Plaza in Vientiane, and the luxury office complex Royal Square.

Agriculture-food, commercial services and renewable energy are also part of the group’s agenda.

BIM Group owns 1,600 hectares of shrimp farms in Kien Giang and Quang Ninh that produce white-leg shrimp, along with salt farms in Quan The, Ca Na and Tri Hai which together account for 60-70 per cent of Viet Nam’s total industrial salt output.

Its luxury fitness brand Elite now has 13 centres across the country.

Renewable energy is a new project for BIM Group with the foundation of BIM Energy Holding in 2017. BIM Energy Holding is co-operating with AC Energy, a member of Ayala, one of the largest business groups in the Philippines, in this new sector. The group targets to develop at least 1,000MW in renewable energy by 2025. BIM Energy started the construction of a 330-solar power project in Ninh Thuan this year which is expected to be completed in June 2019 to become the largest solar power plant in Southeast Asia with an annual output of 545 million kWh.

Viet Nam Report’s Profit 500 evaluates pre-tax profit, revenue, total assets, return on assets, return on equity, return on revenue, labour, and reputation.

The ranking aims to honour enterprises that are profitable and have the potential to become the backbone of the Vietnamese economy. — VNS
