Auto maker Thaco donates $1.1m to poor for Tet

Truong Hai Auto Corporation (Thaco) has donated VND25 billion (US$1.1 million) to the Fund for the Poor in 42 provinces and cities for carrying out welfare programmes so that underprivileged households can celebrate Tet.

HCM City received VND5 billion from Dai Quang Minh Real Estate Investment JSC, a subsidiary of Thaco.

Ha Noi also received VND5 billion.The remaining amount will be handed over to the remaining cities and provinces at a rate of VND500 million to VND2 billion each.

Thaco has for long been an active participant in charity activities such as blood donation, donation of relief materials to flood and storm victims and cash donations to the Fund for the Poor.

It also sponsors activities to promote traffic safety, provides scholarships, and sponsors and organises sporting events.

Besides organising the Tien Phong-Thaco Super Cup, it gave a cash bonus of VND1 billion to the Viet Nam U23 football team and will gift a Kia Optima car worth VND918 million to coach Park Hang Seo in Ha Noi tomorrow (February 8).

Nguyen Mot, Thaco’s communication director, said besides paying around VND15 trillion in taxes annually, the company has also had a corporate social responsibility programme for more than 10 years.

Thaco is a leading car manufacturer and assembler with a 35.8 per cent market share, the largest in the auto industry. — VNS
