Viet Nam’s budget carrier Jetstar Pacific introduced automatic check-in kiosks at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCM City on Thursday.
The new system will allow passengers to complete check-in within 30 seconds without waiting in queues.
This is the second modern technology introduced by Jetstar Pacific after web check-in. For the automatic check-in, passengers will just need to enter their reservation code and flight information and print a boarding pass before proceeding to the security gate.
Nguyen Quoc Phuong, Jestar Pacfic’s CEO, said many passengers were enthusiastic about the new system on the first day. The automatic kiosks have been set up to meet the increasing demand in travel during the upcoming Tet (Lunar New Year) holidays.
The check-in kiosks will save time for passengers and reduce long queues at the airport, especially during Tet, said Phuong. Jetstar Pacific has stepped up efforts to introduce automatic check-in kiosks at Noi Bai International Airport in Ha Noi and Da Nang Airport in future.
Besides the traditional check-in process, passengers can also check-in at the airline’s website, www.jetstar.com, two to 48 hours ahead of the departure time or check in through their iPad using the wi-fi available at Tan Son Nhat, Noi Bai and Da Nang airports. Jetstar Pacific is the first low-cost airline in Viet Nam, operating in 29 domestic and nine international routes. It connects Jetstar Group’s network to 82 destinations in 18 countries.
Currently, Jetstar Pacific has two major shareholders -- national carrier Vietnam Airlines and Australian national airlines Qantas Group (Qantas Airways). To meet the increasing travel demand during Tet, Jetstar Pacific plans to run nearly 3,000 flights, up 10 per cent compared to its frequency. — VNS
