In two months since it began, the VND3 billion (US$128,900) relief programme called ‘No one left behind’ has provided 270,000 meals besides medical consultation and counselling, physiotherapy toolkits, and relief packs to 11,000 people.
The beneficiaries are migrants, homeless, jobless workers, and disabled children with a disadvantaged background and their caregivers directly or indirectly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
HSBC Bank (Vietnam) Ltd. joined hands for the charity programme with the Worldwide Orphans Foundation, VinaCapital Foundation and Supporting Community Development Initiatives.
Tim Evans, CEO and chairman of the bank’s corporate sustainability committee, said: “It should be noted that this is the first part of an overall programme that we envisage lasting until 2021. I hope that the next stages will bring additional practical benefits to people in need as we all work together to get through these testing times.”
The next stages will help some 15,000 people by providing water filtration systems to hospitals and schools, 200 relief packs and 400 vaccinations.
It aims to make beneficiaries resilient enough to recover from the historic pandemic and well prepared for facing future crises. — VNS
