HCM CITY (Biz Hub) — Following a new deal, VietJet will slash fares by up to half on flights for tours run by domestic agencies under the HCM City Tourism Association.
The deal is aimed at spurring growth in the tourism industry and was inked between the two sides in the southern city on March 25.
During recent weeks, VietJet had also announced the opening of several new domestic routes, such as HCM City-Chu Lai in Quang Nam Province (from May 27), HCM City-Dong Hoi in Quang Binh Province (from April 29), and Ha Noi-Quy Nhon (from April 26).
Vietnam plans to promote the country's incredible heritage sites this year. Therefore, the airline said it hoped that these new flights and cheaper tours would encourage more Vietnamese and international travellers to explore many of the country's tourist offerings.
During the ceremony, a representative from the HCM City Tourism Association said air tickets normally accounted for 45 to 50 per cent of a tour's total fee and as a result of this agreement domestic tourism agencies would now be able to offer more affordable tours, which would in turn encourage tourism growth.
