HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Two more domestic firms have been granted priority status in customs procedures, on-line Hai Quan newspaper quoted the General Department of Customs as saying.

These enterprises are Ca Mau Seafood Processing and Service JSC (Cases) and Can Tho Import Export Fishery Limited Co (Cafish).

The latest addition increased the number of Vietnamese enterprises which benefit from expedited customs procedures to 54. Some of them also operate in the seafood processing sector.

With four factories located in three Cuu Long Delta provinces of Ca Mau, Kien Giang and Bac Lieu, Cases earned an annual export turnover of US$150 million while Cafish which owns one factory in Can Tho City's Tra Noc 1 Industrial Zone, Cafish generated more than $17 million from exports in the first half of this year.

The customs priority programme for enterprises was piloted in 2011 and officially began in 2013.

The scheme simplifies administrative procedures for participating enterprises, reducing the amount of paperwork they must complete and the number of inspections they must undergo. — VNS
