HCM CITY — P&G Vietnam and Central Retail Vietnam has officially launched the third year of their joint tree-planting initiative, “Forests for Good – Vì Một Việt Nam Xanh,” at the GO! An Lạc supermarket in HCM City.

This year, the initiative sets an ambitious target: planting 35,000 trees across Việt Nam over three years to contribute to reforestation and environmental sustainability. It also aims to raise public awareness and encourage consumer involvement in green initiatives.

Olivier Langlet, Group CEO of Central Retail Vietnam, said the campaign has evolved from a standalone effort into a collective movement for sustainability.

“As environmental challenges grow, so must our commitment. This year, we’re doubling down on our efforts, aiming to plant 35,000 trees across diverse ecosystems in Việt Nam,” he said.

He highlighted the vital role of collaboration between manufacturers, retailers, and consumers in driving the programme’s success.

“Through Forests for Good, we reaffirm our strong support for the Government’s net-zero emissions goal by 2050," he added.

Marwane Tahri, Country Manager of P&G Vietnam, said: “For over 30 years, P&G has been committed to making a meaningful impact. We’re proud to celebrate this milestone by planting the seeds of sustainability.”

From 2023 to 2024, the programme planted 14,000 forest trees in biodiversity hotspots including Xuân Liên (Thanh Hóa), Đồng Nai, Cà Mau, and Tà Cú (Bình Thuận).

In 2025, the project enters a new phase with the planting of 20,000 Melaleuca trees in Nông Trường Mùa Xuân, Hậu Giang Province, a vital wetland in the Mekong Delta. An additional 1,000 trees will be planted through a volunteer event with company employees.

This next chapter aims to transform 0.5 hectares of degraded land into a thriving native forest, creating a safe habitat for over 20,000 wild birds across 50 species, including endangered ones. It is expected to absorb over 100 tonnes of CO2 annually, enhance climate resilience, and provide ecological and economic benefits for local communities.

From May 22 to June 18, 2025, shoppers who spend VNĐ399,000 or more on P&G products at GO! or Tops Market will contribute one tree to the initiative and receive a digital certificate recognising their support for reforestation in Việt Nam. — VNS
