HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Movitel mobile network received the Mobile Innovations Awards for its best use of mobiles within a customer relationship management (CRM) strategy, on July 8 in London, England.
Movitel has become the first and only African telecommunications company to win awards of prestigious international organisations for three consecutive years. Earlier, it won the 2013 Mozambican Frost & Sullivan Award for Competitive Strategy Leadership and Rural Telecom Award at the 2012 AfricaCom Awards.
Movitel, the joint venture collaboration (JVC) between Vietnamese military-run Viettel and Mozambique's SPI company, launched operations on May 15, 2012. Since then, it has gained five million subscribers, accounting for 32 per cent of share of the telecommunications market. Its revenue reached US$154.5 million, with a profit of $8.8 million in 2013.
The Mobile Innovations Awards was organised by the founders of The Card & Payments Awards and The Loyalty Awards for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region to celebrate the enormous growth and innovation in mobile technology. — VNS
