HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Tran Manh Hung, general director of the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT), will be the chairman of the group's member council from March 1, 2015.
The appointment was announced on December 16 in Ha Noi.
Hung will replace current chairman Pham Long Tran, who is due to retire on that date.
Hung, born in 1959, started working for VNPT in 1981. He was VNPT's deputy general director in 1999 and the director of VNPT Ha Noi in 2007. He also joined its member council.
The information and communications ministry appointed Hung as VNPT's general director in August 2013.
Tran will continue to have management and international co-operation duties till March 1, 2015, and will gradually transfer them to Hung.
On the same day, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Bac Son handed over an official decision to Mai Van Binh and Le Nam Tra. According to the decision, Binh has become the chairman of the member council of MobiFone Telecommunications Corporation, and Tra has become its general director from December 11.
The Vietnam Mobile Telecom Services Company, which operates MobiFone, was transformed into the MobiFone Telecommunications Corporation on December 2. — VNS
