HA NOI (Biz Hub) ─ The Ministry of Industry and Trade has ordered round log and lumber dealers to stop the temporary importation for re-export of natural wood from Laos and Cambodia from December 8.
The ministry made the announcement last Monday in line with a directive from Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai on the management of wood imports last June.
According to the ministry's Circular No. 37/2014/TT-BCT which was issued last October 24, the regulation applies to wood from natural forests which is specified in the HS 44.03 and 44.07 groups in Viet Nam's list of imports and exports.
The circular also allows dealers whose temporary import contracts were signed before December 8 to continue importing natural wood from Laos and Cambodia until December 31. — VNS
