HA NOI (Biz Hub) — The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines (VNA) has selected Canadian Aviation Electronics (CAE) for the provision of Airbus A320, A350 and Boeing 787 pilot training services under a 10-year agreement.

Under the agreement, CAE will add three new full-flight simulators to be delivered to Vietnam Airlines training centre in HCM City and support the firm to train teachers and technicians. Meanwhile, VNA will supply infrastructure and human resources for the operation of simulators.

Domestic and foreign pilots will begin training in Viet Nam in the summer of 2017.

The Vietnam Airlines training centre will become the fourth one of the CAE in the Southeast Asia region, following Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines.

Chairman of Vietnam Airlines Pham Ngoc Minh said he was delighted to further expand the relationship with the CAE to support the growing training needs in the region.

He expected that CAE would help the firm deliver world-class service to its passengers, including the highest standards of quality and safety.

Earlier, Vietnam Airlines invested in a building for six simulators. It also bought one simulator of A320-200 to train pilots of A321 planes and one A320 flight training device (FTD). Since June 2012 to now, pilots of A321 planes have been trained in Viet Nam. — VNS
