HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Viet Nam will charge US$115 to $520 for allowing flights to use the country's airspace from January 16, 2016.

The move is the result of a circular issued by the finance ministry, which regulates the amount, methods and management of fee collection from flights passing through Vietnamese airspace.

Under the circular, the charges will apply for regular flights, non-scheduled flights and commercial chartered flights that fly through Vietnamese airspace.

Non-commercial chartered flights and flights for humanitarian purposes such as search and rescue services and disaster-relief missions will not have to pay the fee.

The fee will be charged as per the aircraft's payload and flight distance. — VNS
