VN firm starts making latex in Laos

HA NOI (Biz Hub) — The Quasa-Geruco joint stock company, a subsidiary of the Viet Nam Rubber Industry Group (VIRG) operating in Laos, hosted a ceremony in Savannakhet province on Tuesday to mark the beginning of its first rubber latex production programme in the country this year.

At the event, representatives from the VIRG said the corporation had implemented seven projects to cultivate rubber trees in Laos during the past seven years, with Quasa-Geruco investing US$33 million.

The company plans to cultivate 700 ha of rubber trees this year and will build a rubber processing plant with an annual capacity of 5,000 tonnes in the neighbouring country.

Quasa-Geruco has paid strict attention to providing other benefits alongside its business operations. The company poured VND2.3 billion (more than $108,000) into the construction of roads, a power system, schools and pagoda.— VNS
