HA NOI (Biz Hub) — The Vietnam Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex) will spend US$91 million to build its second factory in the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang.

Construction on the 3.7ha facility in An Bien District was kicked off yesterday and is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2017.

With a capacity of 12 million products per year and 12 production lines, the factory is set to generate nearly $37 million in annual revenues and create 2,000 jobs, while contributing approximately $218,000 annually to the State budget.

Last year, Vinatex's first factory began operating in Go Quao District, employing 2,000 local residents.

The group and its affiliates have invested in 11 plants in the Mekong Delta region, creating 23,000 jobs. — VNS
