With fewer passengers to transport due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Vietnam Railways Corporation (VNR) started taking online transport order of goods.

According to VNR, it has stopped all passenger train routes except the Thong Nhat North-South train line number SE3/SE4 between Ha Noi and HCM City once a day to help control the spread of COVID-19 in Viet Nam.

More than 150 passenger trains between localities in Viet Nam have been stopped temporarily due to the pandemic.

Instead, from April 1, VNR enhanced serving of fast transportation of goods via its freight trains and let customers book the transport of goods online.

Customers can use the electronic ticketing system of the railway for the schedule or visit the website to book goods transportation online.

Customers can bring and receive their goods at stations or request home pick up and delivery from VNR staff.

The corporation said it can carry all types of goods including fresh goods such as fruits and refrigerated commodities as well as cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and other express goods. — VNS
