KIEN GIANG (Biz Hub) — A ceremony on Phu Quoc Island in southern Kien Giang province yesterday inaugurated the installation of a 110kV undersea-cable system linking the island to the national power grid.
The project has received more than VND2.3 trillion ($110 million), much of it from a World Bank loan.
The 58km Ha Tien-Phu Quoc system has also been backed by Electricity of Viet Nam (EVN)'s southern branch.
Work is being carried out by Italian contractor Prysmian Powerlink SRL in a deal worth EUR67.4 million ($90.9 million).
The Italian company said it would complete the installation by January 13, so that it will be operational for Lunar New Year. — VNS
