CAIRO (Biz Hub) — The Dubai-based Global Education Management Systems Limited, or GEMS Education, said the company was seeking opportunities to expand its business to emerging markets in 2015, including Viet Nam.
According to Dino Varkey, managing director of GEMS Education, the expansion plan comes after a group of investors – Dubai's Fajr Capital, the US's Blackstone and Bahrain's Mumtalakat – acquired a stake in the company last year.
The company has a strong presence in the UAE, with a chain of 12 schools and other education centres in Qatar, Egypt, Kenya, the US, Switzerland, Uganda and India.
The company opened its first school in Singapore last September and plans to open its first school in Malaysia in September 2015. — VNS
