DA NANG (Biz Hub) — The central city will inaugurate on July 18 the Sun Wheel, the first completed work of the biggest entertainment centre in Da Nang and Central Highlands, the Asia Park project.
Sun Group, the investor of the project, said the Sun Wheel, which is 115 metres tall and is among the ten tallest wheels in the world, has 64 cabins, takes 15 minutes to complete a revolution and can carry 384 persons per revolution.
The wheel, designed by US architect Bill Bensley and situated on September 2nd Road, three kilometres southeast of the city centre, will be a new entertainment attraction for tourists.
A 4.7-metre-high, 20-tonne Buddha statue has also been built near the wheel as a tourist landmark.
A Sun Wheel promotion programme from July 18 to Decembers 31 will offer special tickets priced at VND50,000 (US$2.4) each.
According to general director of Sun Group Dang Minh Truong, the Asian Park project, which covers 88 hectares and has a total investment of VND4 trillion ($190 million), is expected to attract about 2.5 million visitors annually. The park's attractions include a cultural centre, craft demonstrations, art displays, replicas of miniature historical relics from nine Asian countries and a multi-purpose performance hall. — VNS
