HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Pakistan imported 33,000 tonnes of Vietnamese tea, valued at US$51 million, in the first four months of 2014, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

In April alone, the country spent $13 million on importing around 8,000 tonnes of Viet Nam's tea, the ministry said.

Pakistan is the largest importer of Viet Nam's largest tea with an average turnover of over $40 million per year, comprising over 20 per cent of Viet Nam's total tea export volume.

Although Viet Nam recorded a huge turnover from exporting tea to Pakistan, only a small proportion of the total tea volume is consumed there. Pakistan imported tea mostly from Kenya and other nations such as Bangladesh, Brazil, India and Uganda.— VNS
