HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Three leading Danish companies: SKIOLD, DanBred and Vilomix will partner with Hung Vuong Group to develop a comprehensive pig production in Viet Nam.

Following the deal, inked by the four parties last week, SKIOLD will be in charge of consulting, designing, supplying full-line equipment and providing a complete management service program for Hung Vuong's pig production projects, applying the most advanced technologies and equipment. DanBred will provide the Hung Vuong group with the best breeding genetic, while high-quality feed and nutrition supplements for the pigs will be supplied by Vilomix.

"We are delighted to become strategic partners of the most ambitious pig development projects of Hung Vuong Group, in particular, and the Vietnamese husbandry industry, in general. In association with the group, we hope to change the existing methods of porcine husbandry in Viet Nam," SKIOLD's owner Henrik Hougaard said.

"Great support from the Vietnamese government in the form of policies and strategies are crucial for the success of Hung Vuong's projects and their Danish strategic partners in the country," he said.

Local media quoted by Duong Ngoc Minh, Hung Vuong Group's Chairman, as saying that the domestic livestock industry would likely become comparable to those in developed EU countries and in the United States if it received adequate investment with a focus on expanding production scales and applying advanced technology. Therefore, Hung Vuong Group had studied the advantages and disadvantages before selecting the Danish partners, who have extensive experience in pig production.

Despite stiff competition from imported meat, the result of Viet Nam joining the Trans-Pacific Partnership, Minh said his company would take its own direction by competing on the basis of using a good breeding genetic, hi-tech farming equipment, nutrient solutions, adequate investment scale and low labour costs.

Hung Vuong is expected to start construction of a wide range of pig farms by the end of this year. Two of these farms are expected to sell products directly to the market by September 2016. — VNS
