HA NOI (Biz Hub) — A house buyer in HCM City has won VND258 million (US$12,285) in her court case against Quoc Cuong Gia Lai Group for a 22-month delay in settlement of their sale and purchase agreement.
The claimant, Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, was due to move into her apartment in July 2009 but wasn't given possession until April 2011.
The contract stated that in case of a delay in settlement the purchaser would receive interest on the money they had contributed at a rate of 1.5 per cent per month.
After a week of deliberation, the City District 3 People's Court awarded Ngoc VND258 million (US$12,285). Five other customers have also sued the company for the same reason.— VNS
