HCM CITY (VNS) — HCM City will invest VND97 trillion (US$4.45 billion) for construction of the city's Metro Line No 4, which will run from Ben Cat Bridge in Go Vap District to Nguyen Van Linh Street in District 7.
Preparations for the Metro Line No 4 project have been completed, according to the HCM City Management Authority for Urban Railways.
Under the master plan, the 35.7-km long Metro Line No 4 will run through Districts 1, 3, 4, 7, 12, Go Vap, Phu Nhuan and Nha Be.
Line No 4 will have a 0.73 km sector of above-ground railway, 18.2 km of elevated railway, 13.1 km of underground railway, and a 3.4-km long underground Metro Line No 4b running through the districts of Go Vap, Tan Binh and Phu Nhuan.
In addition, the project also includes two depots for maintenance services. They are the 24.5ha Thanh Xuan Depot in District 12 and the 21.2 Hiep Phuoc Depot in Nha Be District.
Under HCM City's master plan for development, the city will develop eight metro lines and three monorail lines.
The city has begun construction of Metro Line No 1 (linking Ben Thanh Market in District 1 with Suoi Tien Tourist Park in District 9); Metro Line No 2 (connecting Ben Thanh Market with Tham Luong Bus Station in District 12) and Metro Line No 5 (linking Can Giuoc Bus Station in Binh Chanh District with Tham Luong in District 12).
The city authorities said they had arranged sufficient capital for construction of the three metro lines. — VNS
