HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Hau Giang Province plans to build a solar-energy power plant with total investment of VND 1.2 trillion (US$53.3 million) in Hoa An Commune, Phung Hiep District.

With a designed capacity of 40MW, the plant will be built in a 50ha area, including the solar-energy power plant, solar modules and roof mounting system.

The plant is a result of an investment promotion meeting between the JinkoSolar International Development Ltd. and Hau Giang Province leaders.

JinkoSolar representative James Gia Co confirmed to Vietnam New Agency that the company has registered to build a solar power plant in the province.

The two sides expect to complete investment procedures in the last quarter of 2016. Land clearance and compensation will be undertaken to begin construction of the plant in 2017, according to a JinkoSolar representative.

Hau Giang Deputy Chairman Nguyen Van Tuan said the province will create favourable conditions for JinkoSolar to build a solar power plant in the province.

Tuan asked the company to quickly submit the project for approval to the province, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the government.

He also asked the company to report details of the project scale, investment ability, environment protection activities and impact on locals.

In 2015, Hau Giang Province also permitted the Ha Noi-based Song Hong Oil and Gas Investment and Trading Company to build a solar-energy power plant project in Hoa An Commune, Phung Hiep District. With total investment of VND 1.5 trillion, the 40MW plant is expected to begin operations in the second quarter of next year. — VNS
