Da Nang welcomes first tourist of New Year

DA NANG (Biz Hub) — The central city will host the first foreign tourist arrival at Da Nang International Airport on January 31, which is the first day of the lunar New Year.

The passenger on the Singapore-based SilkAir's flight from Singapore to Da Nang will receive li xi (lucky money) and a gift from the city's culture, sports and tourism department.

SilkAir, which began operating in Da Nang in 2005, started with three weekly flights. It has added four direct flights between Da Nang and Singapore via Siem Reap on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, while the Singapore-Siem Reap-Da Nang-Singapore flights are on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays.

Last year, 31,000 passengers took the flights between the two cities.The culture, sports and tourism department will also host the first foreign tourist arriving on a cruise ship at Tien Sa port on February 1, the second day of the lunar New Year.
