DA NANG (Biz Hub) — Budget airline carrier Jeju Air has officially launched its new air route, connecting central city of  Da Nang and Incheon, Seoul, Korea, with a 189-seat Boeing B737-800 aircraft.

As scheduled, the airline will operate daily flights from Da Nang to Incheon at 1.30am local time and at 9.30pm from Incheon to Da Nang.

"We have prepared well for the launch of the air route. We hope all passengers will be satisfied with our flight service and aim to build a brand focused on safety, efficiency and savings," Lee Seok-joo, commercial director of Jeju Air, said at the launch ceremony at Da Nang's International Airport yesterday.

This is the second flight route Jeju Air has launched in Viet Nam after the Ha Noi-Incheon route.

Jeju Air, which was founded in 2005, manages a fleet of 20 Boeing B737-800s and over 1,000 employees, operating 20 air routes to Japan, China, the Philippines and Thailand, as well as Guam and Viet Nam.

The new flight route will create more options for Vietnamese tourists visiting Korea and Korean travellers to the central coastal destinations in Viet Nam.

Da Nang plans to open more new flights to potential markets such as Japan, Moscow and Malaysia as well as promote existing routes to Singapore, Siem Riep and Hong Kong.

The national flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines, has operated a Da Nang-Busan route, with two flights per week, since 2013.

The central city serves 19 international air routes.

Da Nang, which is home to a number of heritage sites in the central region, could enable greater co-ordination of tourism services between Jeju Island; Incheon, Seoul; and other localities, including Phong Nha-Ke Bang in Quang Binh Province, Hue City, Hoi An and My Son in Quang Nam Province.

In 2014, South Korea's Air Busan also started operating chartered flights between Da Nang and Busan.
