BAC LIEU (Biz Hub) — The Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta province of Bac Lieu has set a 2014 target of harvesting 1 million tonnes of rice and 275,000 tonnes of aquatic products, which are important components of its economic sector.
The province advocates maintaining the current area under rice cultivation, increasing the efficiency of production models, including those for large-scale cultivation.
Its agricultural sector is also gearing up to help local farmers apply advanced technology to produce low-cost but high-yield crops.
In addition, the locality intends to improve the collaboration of all the participants in the large-scale production model, as well as other models, which will help companies invest in regions that can produce high-quality crops for exports.
Despite some difficulties in local agricultural and aquaculture production last year, the locality managed to produce 990,500 tonnes of rice and 263,000 tonnes of aquatic products, more than double last year's target. — VNS
