HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Oil prices continued to weigh heavily on the Asian stock market on December 16.
In Japan, the Nikkei 225 fell below the 17,000 level, losing 344.08 points to close at 16,755.32, and the Topix Index declined by 25.92 points to end at 1,353.37.
The Hang Seng Index also fell below the 23,000 level by losing 357.35 points to close at 22,670.50 in Hong Kong.
The Straits Times Index lost 79.05 points to end at 3,215.09 in Singapore.
The VN Index lost 12.79 points to close at 535.14, while the HNX also declined by 1.60 points to end the day at 82.64.
However, the Shanghai Composite Index bucked the trend by adding 68.10 points to end the day at 3,021.52 in mainland China.— VNS
