HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Shares sank this morning, after the American market fell overnight following concerns over negative global economy indicators.

On the HCM Stock Exchange, the VN-Index lost 0.64 per cent to close the morning at 561.27 points.

The HNX-Index on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange also edged down 0.85 per cent to end at 77.89 points.

The overall market condition was very negative, with just 12 per cent of a total 670 stocks climbing, while 37 per cent fell.

None of the oil and gas shares posted gains, as they were negatively affected by a three per cent fall in international oil prices yesterday due to concerns over a global economic slowdown, oversupply and weaker demand from China.

Liquidity rose slightly over yesterday morning, with 71 million shares worth almost VND1.1 trillion (US$48.9 million) being traded on the two exchanges.

Only 11 stocks saw trading of more than one million shares. Real estate giant FLC Group (FLC) was the most active stock, with 4.5 million of its shares being traded at VND6,500 each.

The afternoon session will start at 1pm. — VNS
