A competition of khen, a popular wind instrument of the ethnic people, and a flower festival will be held at Fansipan Legend in Sa Pa Town, Lao Cai Province, soon.

The event will take place from January 30 to February 12.

The event, which falls from the third to the sixteenth of the first lunar month of the Year of Rooster, will create a perfect atmosphere for the traditional Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday.

Around the cable station of Fansipan Legend Sa Pa, thousands of flower will be on display, including peach, apricot, plum and chrysanthemum flowers. In addition, a lineup of traditional games of the ethnic people will enable tourists to experience some exciting moments.

The khen competition is being held for the first time in Lao Cai Province, with the participation of 12 teams comprising excellent artists from the region.

The event will open a string of festivals to be held at Fansipan Legend this year.

Fansipan Legend, the world’s longest three-rope cable car, will take tourists from the Muong Hoa Valley to the 3,143m peak of the Fansipan Mountain, Indochina’s highest summit with a spectacular view of the country.

Sun Group, owner of the tourism system here, expects that such events will contribute to preserving the traditional culture and boosting local tourism. — VNS
