HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Ha Noi and HCM City will host an exhibition each in October to encourage international retailers and brands to source Australian Merino wool products from manufacturers in Viet Nam.
The event, held by the Woolmark Company, will take place in Ha Noi on October 20 and in HCM City on October 23.
The company will exhibit the best in Australian Merino wool products from Viet Nam. Manufacturing partners from the Out of Viet Nam project will exhibit woollen sweaters, scarves, hats, and socks, in addition to circular knit fabrics and garments, along with woven fabrics and suits made from Australian Merino wool.
With Viet Nam now accounting for 17 per cent of the world apparel exports in 2014 – second only to China – textile exports have steadily grown and are now worth US$24.5 billion. The Woolmark Company identified this growth in 2012, launching its Out of Vietnam project to develop new manufacturing supply chains for Australian Merino wool products.
Since then, the company has engaged with more than 80 partners – mostly flat-bed knitwear, circular knitting and garment making – and transferred technical know-how about the manufacturing of woollen products to 49 of those companies. It has also disseminated information about sources of raw materials and machines and organised international trade missions to connect its project partners with buyers. — VNS
