Vingroup Innovation Foundation (VINIF) and BK Holdings signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) promoting innovation and start-ups on Tuesday afternoon.

Việt Nam is currently developing along the guiding principles of innovation and creativity, using a framework of scientific research, technology and innovation to enhance economic value and competitiveness.

The collaboration between VINIF and BK Holdings represents a significant step in bridging the gap between scientific research and innovation, said Associate Prof. Trịnh Xuân Anh, Deputy General Director of BK Holdings.

“With VINIF's accomplishments in supporting science projects and BK Holdings' 15 years of innovation experience, entrepreneurship and technology transfer, the combination will establish a unified ecosystem that spans from research investment to the commercialisation of scientific and technological products,” Anh said, adding that this model aligns well with Việt Nam’s development direction.

Similarly, Associate Prof. Phan Thị Hà Dương, CEO of VINIF, said that the partnership holds the promise of being highly effective and it is anticipated that the projects showcased in the event will foster connections and yield future products.

The event also saw the presence of Phạm Đình Đoàn, Chairman of Phú Thái Holdings and president of BK Fund and representatives from the Intellectual Property Office, the National Innovation Centre (NIC), investment funds, businesses and project leaders of 117 initiatives.

The participation of these funds alleviates the concerns of researchers regarding administrative procedures, allowing them to devote more time to their research activities. This, in turn, is expected to generate significant value, Nguyễn Văn Bảy, Deputy Director of the Department of Intellectual Property, told Việt Nam News.

“From obtaining exclusive patent rights to successfully entering the market, there are numerous challenges involved in the process of commercialisation. It requires the collaboration of multiple stakeholders, like today’s event, to provide the necessary support.

“This collaborative approach is is effective in promoting innovation and driving economic growth by increasing the value derived from research and development efforts.” — VNS
