Shinhan Bank has signed a strategic agreement with the HCM City University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH) for a financial support programme that includes preferential interest rates for students and credit to upgrade school facilities.
The agreement serves to promote both sides' capabilities and maximise their potential in training and offering convenient financial services to officials, lecturers and students.
Under the MoU, Shinhan Bank and USSH, which is under the Viet Nam National University-HCM City, will work together to create a financial support programme with preferential interest rates for students and trainees.
It will help students be flexible about financial decisions when paying tuition fees to the school based on their individual financial circumstances.
Shinhan Bank has also awarded "Shinhan Scholarships" worth VND200 million (US$7,850) to 10 disadvantaged students of USSH.
The two sides will also collaborate to organise events to introduce and promote Shinhan Bank's friendly and convenient financial products and services at the university.
The bank will be given preference at school events with high student engagement during the agreement period.
Shinhan Bank will assist USSH in repairing, renovating, and upgrading the Applied Korean Studies Centre at the school to provide students with a creative and comfortable learning environment.
Lee Jae Hyun, deputy general director of Shinhan Bank Vietnam, said the bank and USSH have a close relationship in assisting students, particularly those studying Korean.
USSH has trained generations of Shinhan personnel in standard Korean skills, contributing to the bank's business expansion in Viet Nam, he said.
“Through this comprehensive cooperative collaboration, the two sides will come up with tremendous achievements that will offer practical benefits to future generations."
With a more than 60-year history, USSH is the largest research and training centre in the field of social sciences and humanities in the South.
Le Hoang Dung, its vice rector, said the school has been actively expanding cooperation in many fields with universities, mass organisations, research centres, companies, and non-profits to diversify applied research programmes, and human resource training, and create and develop brands for partners.
“In response, our partners actively support the university in improving training programmes, recruiting human resources, organising seminars and workshops, and awarding student scholarships." — VNS
