Vietnam Airlines plans to maintain market share on key routes and expand international routes to meet travel needs in 2024.

According to Đặng Ngọc Hòa, Chairman of Vietnam Airlines Corporation, the company would keep up its cultural promotion, hold onto market share in strategic areas, and grow its international network in 2024, especially with the planned opening of several transcontinental flights to Canada, Italy, and Northern Europe.

The company expects that the global air transport market will reach 90 per cent by 2024, compared to 2019, and is preparing a plan to build resources for pilots, flight attendants, and engineers to serve the high number of flights.

Currently, Vietnam Airlines' longest transcontinental flight is the HCM City-San Francisco (USA) route, which opened in November 2021 with a frequency of three to four flights per week.

In 2023, the international aviation market rebounded positively, thanks to the determination of the Government and the Prime Minister. However, the recovery speed in the last months of the year has been slower than anticipated, especially in Northeast Asia.— VNS
