Budget carrier Vietjet will open three new direct routes connecting Viet Nam’s three big cities of Da Nang, Ha Noi and HCM City with two of India’s largest economic, political and cultural centres of New Delhi and Mumbai.

These new routes aim to meet rising demand for travel between Viet Nam and India as well as across the region, Vietjet said in a press release on Thursday.

According to Vietjet, the Da Nang-New Delhi and Ha Noi-Mumbai routes will commence operations starting from May 14, 2020 with a frequency of five flights per week and three flights per week respectively.

Meanwhile, the HCM City-Mumbai routes will operate four weekly flights from May 15, 2020, it said.

“We are excited to continue connecting Viet Nam's destinations to the market of over 1.2 billion people in India after receiving positive feedback regarding our previous two direct flights that linked both HCM City and Ha Noi with New Delhi,” said Vietjet Vice President Nguyen Thanh Son.

Vietjet's newest routes between the two countries will create many more trade and tourism opportunities, helping to boost the economies of both, Son said.

He added the expansion of Vietjet's flight network into India also reaffirms the airline's ongoing commitment to continuously help flyers save on cost and time.

With all of the three new routes launching operations in May 2020, Vietjet will become the operator with the most direct routes between the two countries, offering five direct routes to and from India.

The airline currently operates the HCM City/Ha Noi-New Delhi services at a frequency of four weekly flights and three weekly flights, respectively. — VNS
