Saigon Co.op on top-200 list of Asia-Pacific retailers

HCM CITY (Biz Hub) — Saigon Co.op was named one of top 200 Asia-Pacific retailers in 2015 by Retail Asia Publishing and Euromonitor International at the Retail Asia Pacific Top 500 awards at a ceremony in the Philippines late last week.

This was the first time a Vietnamese retailer has been included in the list.

With revenue of more than VND26 trillion (US$1.16 billion) last year, a year-on-year increase of 26 per cent, Saigon Co.op ranked 190th, up 27 positions compared to the previous year.

It also won the gold award for the top retailer in Viet Nam at the ceremony.

Saigon Co.op is known for its diverse retail system which includes 78 Co.opmart supermarkets, 94 Co.op Food stores, a Ben Thanh shop, 200 Co.op stores, the TV shopping channel HTV Co.op, the online shopping portal co.ophomeshopping, and the Sense City commercial centre.

It also has two joint-venture hypermarkets with NTUC Fair Price, Co.opXtra, and the 62,000sq.m SC Vivo City mall in HCM City, a joint venture with Mapletree. — VNS
