Sacombank is collaborating with the Red Cross Society to organise its annual "Sacombank - Sharing from the heart" blood donation programme across the country from August 18 to October 15, and expects to collect thousands of units for hospitals and other medical facilities that need the blood.
On the first day of the programme on August 18, more than 500 employees and executives from its head office in HCM City donated more than 720 units of blood.
Lê Đức Thịnh, deputy CEO of Sacombank, said: “With the spirit of ‘Give blood, save life,’ the humanitarian blood donation programme has become a traditional activity and been held annually for the last 11 years at Sacombank.
“The programme shows Sacombank’s spirit of responsibility towards and sharing with the community and society.”
From now until October 15, the programme will be organised at its branches and transaction offices nationwide. The blood from donors will be taken and preserved by the local Red Cross Society and medical units.
The programme is part of the bank’s community charity activities, which also include the “Nurturing Dreams” scholarships given each year to contribute to the development of education, “Warm Spring” during Tết to bring joy to disadvantaged people, “Steps for the community" to raise funds to build cultural houses for ethnic minority communities, and “Running for community health with Sacombank” to inspire the spirit of physical fitness.
With its motto of "Accompanying development," for the last 31 years Sacombank has always placed social activities on a par with business efforts as it seeks to make a holistic contribution to both the development of the nation’s economy and the sustainability of society. — VNS
