HCM CITY (Biz Hub) — Phu My Hung Development Corporation is displaying a giant moon cake at Crescent Mall in HCM City's District 7 from September 5 to 7 as a symbol of the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Phu My Hung wants to organise exciting activities for kids and their families to have fun, and the giant moon cake is meant to wish for peace and good luck.

The most fun spot is expected to be by the giant, square moon cake, which measures 1.2m x 1.2m and weighs 158kg. It is made from 25kg of lotus seeds, 22kg of green beans, 200 eggs, and other ingredients like malt, durian, lychee, and scallop.

Mr Aaron Kou, special assistant to the general manager of Dai Phat Food Co Ltd, the company that made the cake, said: "The giant moon cake is a special gift from Dai Phat Company and Phu My Hung Corporation to everyone.

"It is also to wish for wealth, prosperity, and togetherness during this Mid-Autumn Festival."

The giant cake will be distributed to patients at the HCM City Tumor Hospital (Second Premises) for a programme called "Thuy's Dream" launched by Tuoi Tre newspaper.

The Crescent area will be lit with 1,500 lanterns of various colours stretching 700m along the lake until September 7.

It is the perfect destination for families and kids during the national celebrations on September 2 and the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Besides the excitement brought by the well-lit streets and the giant cake, visitors can also participate in other activities to celebrate the festival at Crescent Mall, like many promotions offered by several stores like Phuc Long and Breadtalk, and products at toys stalls and lanterns for kids.

The Mid-Autumn Day, which falls on September 8th this year, promises to be exciting with gifts and lanterns given away for free to the first 1,000 kids coming to Crescent Mall.

Children visiting Crescent Mall that day can also watch exciting music performances for free, show off their skill at making moon cakes and lanterns, and receive gifts worth a total of VND16 million (US$760). — VNS
