The Viet Nam Tourist Information Centre and Nestle Viet Nam Co Ltd signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote tourism, cuisine and culture in Viet Nam on Tuesday in Ha Noi.

The cooperation programme aims to honour diverse cultural and culinary values and contribute to the development of tourism by sharing Vietnamese dishes online to the world.

The partnership also aims to create tourism and culinary value for domestic tourists, helping stimulate domestic tourism, experience food and learn about local culture. They will build a diverse culinary map showcasing the nation's food.

The project will promote the rich cuisine of Viet Nam to international tourists from all over the world.

Between now and 2026, the MAGGI brand of Nestle Viet Nam will also be hosting food festivals and promoting Vietnamese cuisine on social media.

Le Bui Thi Mai Uyen, Head of the Food Division of Nestle Vietnam, said: “The MAGGI brand not only accompanies Vietnamese dinnertime but also wishes to contribute to enhancing the culinary tourism experience in Viet Nam.

"Through cooperation with VNAT, the MAGGI brand will contribute to promoting the cuisine of each locality to local people and millions of tourists, thereby bringing the Vietnamese culinary identity to the world, promoting the tourism potential of the provinces and cities, and positioning Viet Nam as an attractive, colourful and unique destination in the world tourism map.”

Nguyen Le Phuc, VNAT’s Vice Chairman said: “Viet Nam's tourism development strategy to 2030 identifies culinary tourism as one of the most important products contributing to improving the country’s brand. Vietnamese cuisine has proven its appeal by spreading globally, being loved and honoured by many international tourists and friends through prestigious awards and titles.”

Viet Nam has a rich culinary culture thanks to the combination of a long heritage and the sophistication and abundance of local ingredients, processing methods and regional flavours. Food has become one of the most attractive factors for tourists in Viet Nam. In 2022, Viet Nam was awarded the title of "Asia's Best Culinary Destination" by the World Travel Awards. — VNS
