HCM City Conservatory of Music ties up with AMPA Education

The HCM City Conservatory of Music on Monday signed a partnership agreement withthe Asia Music and Performing Arts Education (AMPA Education) in HCM City, aiming to reach a common goal of serving the Vietnamese community throught hearts.

Under the agreement, the conservatory will co-operate with AMPA Education to promote the development ofa"socialresponsibility" strategy through integrating international training programmes into curricula formainstreamstudents and by implementing non-profit music and arts projects to build a sustainablecreative education foundation for studentsnationwide.

At the signing ceremony,the two sidescommitted toa sustainable partnership through the following activities: introducingand promotingperforming arts workshops and

master classesfor students and the public at home and abroad; and collaboratingwithlecturers and students of both partiesforfestivals, performing artsevents, competitions,musicsummercamps and other exchange programmes.

They will also work togetherto promote and organise Trinity College London, ABRSMand otherQualification examsfor students.

In addition, they will integrate Trinity College London into the training programmes of the Music Training and Development Center, using Trinity College London as a reference formainstreamstudents of the Department ofJazz, Rock and Pop and Music Technology,supplementingtheTheory of Music programme or incorporating extra-curricular programmes for students.

AMPA Education will organise workshops and master classespresentedby Vietnamese and international expertsandoffer free admissionfor teachers and students of the Conservatory.

Meanwhile, the HCM City Conservatory of Music and AMPA Education will jointly develop strategic training programmes combining the strengths of both parties to develop a system of training which will grant prestigious certifications to participants.

Ta Quang Dong director ofthe HCMC Conservatory of Music, said:“The HCM CityConservatory of Musicalways focuses on leveraging and standardisingeducation programmes through combining international curricula with formal music education. By doing this, students and teachers at the HCM City Conservatoryof Musicwill have the opportunity to gain access and interact with local and international leading experts.”

Asia Music & Performing Arts Education (AMPA Education) is registered with Australian Charities and Not-for-Profit Commission, and supported byThe People's Aid Co-ordinating Committee (PACCOM), a unit of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO).

The HCM City Conservatory of Music was formerly called the Saigon Music National School. The school has two main majors: National Music and Western Music. Established in 1956, the conservatory has trained many songwriters, music educators, researchers and well-known performing artists from HCM City and other parts of the country. – VNS
