GE Vietnam has donated 3,000 sets of personal protective equipment and more than 220 cartons of milk to support doctors and other healthcare workers on the frontline in the fight against COVID-19.

They were handed over to a number of hospitals in HCM City, Nghe An Friendship General Hospital in Nghe An, and Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province.

The VND600 million (US$26,227) they cost was raised by GE’s businesses and employees across the country.

Son Pham, president of GE Vietnam, said: “Collaboration is critical to overcome this challenge. As part of our global efforts and being Viet Nam’s long-term partner in progress, we hope to play a part in better protecting our frontline healthcare workers – to keep them safe the way they keep us safe – and contribute to the fight against COVID-19.”

Recently GE Foundation, the company’s philanthropic arm, donated $73,000 to Habitat for Humanity Vietnam to support the post-disaster recovery programme in Quang Ngai Province.

Binh Thanh 2 and Binh Nguyen primary schools in the province’s Binh Son District, among the worst affected in the historic floods and landslides last year, were given the money to rebuild and renovate their facilities. — VNS
