Dutch companies in Việt Nam are not only committed to sustainability but also actively support Việt Nam’s goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050, affirmed Daniël Stork, Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in HCM City during the Signify Innovation Day, which was organised in HCM City on Thursday.
The commitment highlights the strong co-operation between the Netherlands and Việt Nam, reflecting a shared responsibility in addressing global climate challenges and environmental protection.
To support the net zero goal, during the event, Signify, a world lighting services and solutions provider, brought together experts from the Netherlands and key industry leaders who discussed and shared advanced initiatives and technologies to support the green transition of the economy.
Experts at the event all agreed that advanced lighting technology is an effective solution for emission reduction, contributing to the collective commitment to sustainable development, with lighting seen as the fastest path to net zero.
The event also showcased advanced lighting solutions and provided a platform for businesses to discuss, evaluate, and share effective strategies to accelerate Việt Nam’s journey toward its net zero goals, with lighting as one of the most impactful solutions leading the way to net zero.
“Through lighting solutions for offices, factories, public spaces, and homes, we continue to call on everyone, from businesses to individuals, to join forces starting today. Every choice, from adopting energy-saving lighting to changing daily habits, contributes to building a greener future. Only with collective effort can we create positive and lasting change for the environment,” said Phùng Hoài Dương, general manager of Signify Vietnam.
Dương also informed that Signify is committed to achieving global Net Zero by 2040, with a short-term goal of reducing emissions by 50 per cent by 2030 and cutting emissions across all scopes by 90 per cent by 2040.
In Việt Nam, Signify leads the way in introducing energy-saving lighting solutions that protect user health and align with the mission of “unlocking the extraordinary potential of light for brighter lives and a better world.”
Signify revealed that in 2023, products supporting climate action accounted for 61–64 per cent of total revenue, with over 124 million connected light points worldwide.
Signify Innovation Day is part of the “Illuminating Route to Net Zero" campaign, conducted in two phases. The first phase, launched in August, featured a lighting design competition.
The second phase took place during Signify Innovation Day, featuring the competition’s award ceremony, exhibitions of certified designs, and six lighting stations showcasing innovative lighting solutions. This event reaffirms the annual commitment of the Dutch business community to supporting Việt Nam in realising its net zero vision for the 2023–50 period. — VNS
