HCM CITY (Biz Hub) — Mechatronics will become part of the vocational training curriculum at the Bosch Technical Industrial Apprenticeship Training Centre following an agreement signed on June 2 by Bosch Vietnam, Lilama 2 Technical & Technology College, and the Delegates of German Industry and Commerce in Viet Nam (GIC/AHK Vietnam).

Vo Quang Hue, vice president and managing director of Bosch Vietnam Co., Ltd, said Bosch would invest US$150,000 in equipment for the new training programme which would be conducted in line with German standards.

The funding raises Bosch's total investment in vocational training in the country to $1 billion since the programme began in 2013.

Admission to both industrial mechanics and mechatronics courses for the 2016-17 school year is now open, with an annual intake of 12 apprentices per discipline.

Apprentices will undergo 3.5 years of study. Lilama 2 will be in charge of providing theoretical knowledge, while Bosch Vietnam will be responsible for training practical skills.

The company also announced its business results on the day. Hue said Bosch had 50 per cent growth in Viet Nam for fiscal year 2015, amounting to $68 million in consolidated sales.

The company plans to invest an additional $22 million in its Gasoline Systems plant that makes continuously variable transmission pushbelts in Dong Nai, he said.

Operating in Viet Nam since 1994, Bosch as of December 31 last year had 2,400 employees. – VNS
