BlueScope Zacs has launched its community programme 'Manh ghep yeu thuong' (Pieces of Love) to donate steady and durable roofs to underprivileged people in eight localities across the country in 2019.

This year, the programme will provide nearly 300 roofs, marking the fourth year of its implementation in Viet Nam. It aims to protect underprivileged residents with durable roofs, minimising the risk of roofs collapsing or being blown off during storm seasons.

“Extreme weather events are a great obstacle to poor households’ working and living conditions. Our steel roofs will make local people feel more secured during the rainy season, thereby encouraging them to thrive for a better life,” said Vo Minh Nhut, Country President, NS BlueScope Vietnam.

In Viet Nam, NS BlueScope has initiated a wide range of meaningful social responsibility programmes in environmental protection and sustainable development.

As a member of the joint venture between Australian BlueScope Steel Limited and Japanese Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation, NS BlueScope Vietnam runs three factories in Phu My, Bien Hoa and Ha Noi, providing 156,000 tonnes of high-quality coated steel yearly for big construction projects, hi-tech agricultural solutions, small and medium factories and civil buildings. — VNS
