Wilmar CLV, Asia’s leading agribusiness group, has donated a total of nearly VNĐ10 billion (US$400,480) in support of people affected by Typhoon Yagi in the northern provinces.

On October 7, the group brought gift sets worth VNĐ7 billion ($280,335), including cash, rice and necessities to Quang Ninh Province to support local people and overcome the consequences of Typhoon Yagi.

Previously, it donated gift sets of rice and necessities worth nearly VNĐ3 billion ($120,145) to Yagi victims in five mountainous provinces of Cao Bang, Lang Son, Lao Cai, Yen Bai and Thai Nguyen on October 5 and 6.

Nguyen Van Hoi, chairman of Quang Ninh Province’s Fatherland Front Committee, said the province is one of the localities in the northern region severely affected by storm No 3.

“The group’s support will help local people to soon restore production and business, and stabilise their lives," he said.

The Wilmar CLV Group has two member companies in Quang Ninh Province, CALOFIC and VFM-W Flour Mills Limited, which also suffered losses in production and business activities from Typhoon Yagi.

So the group deeply understands and sympathises with the losses and difficulties that local people in the province and the north are facing, Vu Van Phu, General Director of CALOFIC Co Ltd, said.

“We identify our responsibility to contribute to supporting the province and the northern mountainous provinces to overcome this difficult period,” he said.
