Việt Nam seeks semiconductor development partnership with Samsung: official


Vietnam hopes Samsung become a strategic investor in the context that the country is building a strategy to develop the semiconductor industry and promote innovation.

Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyễn Thị Bích Ngọc has expressed Việt Nam's desire for Samsung to become a strategic investor as the country works to advance the semiconductor industry and foster innovation, during her discussion with General Director of Samsung Vietnam Choi Joo Ho.

Ngọc praised Samsung's projects and contributions to Việt Nam's socio-economic development, urging continued support for enhancing domestic business capabilities. She emphasised the Government's commitment to creating a favourable environment for foreign investors.

Choi Joo Ho highlighted Samsung's increasing investment in Việt Nam, focusing on supporting industries and collaboration with the National Innovation Centre for technology talent development and startup support. As of late 2023, Samsung's investments in Việt Nam exceeded US$20 billion, with over 50 per cent of global Samsung products being manufactured in the country. — VNS
