Thai Vietjet on Wednesday got recertified the air operator certificate (AOC) by the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT).
The new certificate, bestowed to the airline by Thai Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisit, is in line with ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation) standards.
The transport minister of Thailand said the new AOC is a remarkable milestone for Thai Vietjet to further prove its safety and services as it spreads its wings and continues to fly further and higher on this journey of sustainable development.
During the ceremony with the theme “Let’s Enjoy A New Journey”, the airline also announced a new international route from Bangkok to Da Lat – known as the ‘City of Flowers’ and a much-loved mountainous retreat for local and international travellers, particularly from Thailand.
Nguyen Thi Thuy Binh, Thai Vietjet president and CEO, said she believed the recertification will further reassure the confidence of travellers across the globe of our services and the Thai airline industry as well.
She said the opening of Thai Vietjet’s new international route from Bangkok to Da Lat City in the central highlands of Viet Nam delivers the airline’s promise to contribute to the growth of Thai tourism.
The new flight will be launched just before the International Flower Festival of Da Lat, which will be held in December this year. People from these two countries can now enjoy their neighbouring country even more through the expanding flight network, she added.
Commencing on December 18, the new Bangkok-Da Lat route will be operated by an Airbus A320 with four return flights per week, flying every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. One-way fares which start from only 99 Thai bahts (US$3) are now available for booking at www.vietjetair.com.
With the recently-launched route to Da Lat, Thai Vietjet and Vietjet Group will operate a total of six direct routes between Thailand and Viet Nam. These are Bangkok to Ha Noi, Hai Phong, HCM City and Da Lat, and Phuket and Chiang Mai to HCM City.
Thai VietJet was established in Bangkok in late 2014. It is a joint venture between Vietjet Group and Thai airline Kan Air. In which, Vietjet holds a 49 per cent share while the remainder owned by the Thai partner.— VNS
