Thaco launches ship and logistics centre

QUANG NAM (Biz Hub) — The Truong Hai Auto Company (Thaco) launched its ship Truong Hai Star 3 for the HCM City–Chu Lai route and logistics service in the central Quang Nam Province on June 6.

The company told Bizhub that it had invested VND78 billion (US$3.7 million) for the 8,000-DWT (deadweight tonnage) ship and logistics service in order to meet the shipping and port capacity at the Truong Hai–Chu Lai Complex in the central Quang Nam Province.

The ship has a carrying capacity of 657,000 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent unit), with a speed of 17 nautical miles per hour.

The Chu Lai–Truong Hai logistics and port service, which covers an area of 173 hectares, with a total investment of VND514 billion ($24.5 million), will provide package logistics to the northern, central and southern regions of Viet Nam with multi-transport of road, sea and storage.

Thaco also provides two-way shipping route to Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia as well as domestic ports.

The Truong Hai–Chu Lai port allows access to 15,000-DWT ships. — VNS
