HCM CITY — BSB Nanotechnology JSC on Friday officially introduced its latest innovation, the BY-O-COAT product portfolio, at Coatings Expo Vietnam 2025 in HCM City, marking a significant leap for Viet Nam’s green materials sector.

Derived from rice husk ash - a renewable agricultural byproduct - the BY-O-COAT series offers a sustainable alternative to conventional silica-based additives used in the paint and coatings industry.

The launch represents a key step forward in Việt Nam’s ambition to lead in the field of environmentally friendly advanced materials.

BSB Nanotech is the world’s first company to successfully commercialise high-purity amorphous silica from rice husk on an industrial scale.

The proprietary technology not only adds value to agricultural waste but also reduces reliance on traditional silica sources such as sand and quartz, which are known for their environmental toll.

Christopher Nghia Do, Chief Technology and Commercial Officer of BSB Nanotech, said the BY-O-COAT series is a game-changer for the coatings industry.

“We see tremendous potential for global collaboration through this portfolio, which firmly establishes Viet Nam’s presence in the international advanced materials market.”

Product samples and performance visuals were showcased at the event, highlighting improvements in surface smoothness, scratch resistance, thermal stability, and water resistance.

BSB Nanotech’s innovation is driven by its Comprehensive Technology Solution (CTS) model, which integrates five key elements: Science, Investment, Manufacturing, Trading, and Government partnerships.

This model supports a holistic ecosystem that accelerates research, scale-up, market access, and policy support for sustainable technologies.

“By delivering sustainable, high-quality silica additives at competitive prices, we are not only meeting industry needs but also proudly demonstrating Vietnamese innovation on the world stage,” Christopher Nghia Do said.

To extend the global reach of the launch, BSB Nanotech also hosted a live Zoom conference connecting product distributors across more than 30 countries, enabling real-time international participation.

The introduction of BY-O-COAT reinforces BSB Nanotech’s commitment to research and development across sectors including cosmetics, healthcare, rubber, agriculture, and especially eco-friendly coatings.

It also aligns with Viet Nam’s national strategy to promote high-value material innovation and strengthen the role of the private sector in technological advancement.

The company’s initiative echoes the goals outlined in Politburo Resolution 57-NQ/TW on advanced materials development and Resolution 68-NQ/TW on promoting the private sector in the country’s new economic era.

With innovations like BY-O-COAT, BSB Nanotech is showcasing the potential of Viet Nam’s science and technology enterprises to contribute meaningfully to the global supply chain while advancing sustainability goals. — VNS
