THACO eyes a large-scale bauxite complex in Lâm Đồng

Trương Hải Group Corporation (THACO) has proposed the development of a complex for exploiting and processing bauxite with a designed capacity of four million tonnes each year in the Central Highlands province of Lâm Đồng.

The complex is envisaged as a circular economy initiative including bauxite ore exploitation, processing of alumina and aluminum, environmental restoration, tree planting, farm produce processing, an aluminum factory and tourism activities.

It will cover a total area of 1.708 hain Bảo Lâm, Đạ Tẻh, Đạ Huoai districts and Bảo Lộc City.

Under the proposal that has been sent to the provincial People's Commitee, the conglomerate plans to complete the complex’s first phase, which will create an annual capacity of one million tonnes, in 2028.

Work on the second and third phases that will increase annual capacity to two and four million tonnes a year is slated for completion in 2031 and 2034, respectively.
